[This is the full story from our original Mass Text Fail post in February 2013]
So I was approached by a guy in a popular night club in DC and I REALLY liked what I saw, as he was tall, chocolate, and just delicious. We exchanged numbers and he called me a few days later. I was feeling him because we had very thought-provoking conversations [YES!!! I love a SMART man especially one who can hold a conversation!!!!!!] and really seemed to hit it off.
We went out a few weeks later and had a great time. Him being the southern gentleman that he was, he really made an effort to be attentive and showered me with compliments. Of course I couldn’t help but blush because a girl never gets tired of hearing that she’s beautiful [*sigh*]. Because our schedules clashed, we didn’t have date number two right away, but continued to talk frequently via phone and he let me know that he wouldn’t mind focusing his energy on learning me. [How sweet!]
Well one Sunday morning I woke up, checked my phone as per usual, and saw that I had a text from my Southern Gentleman [YAY!]. As soon as I read the text, I couldn’t help but be all smiles. Why? Because he told me that he thought I was “absolutely amazing”, expressed that he was patient and understanding of my personal and professional goals, and in spite of us both being busy, he “definitely” wanted to connect with me more. [Awwwww!!! Insert dreamy music!]
Try to ignore his typos lol
I laid in bed just oozing with excitement preparing to formulate my reply when, out of the blue, I received a text from an unfamiliar number that read:
“Hey. Is this specifically to me? It came as a group text.”
I decided to text the unfamiliar number back to get to the bottom of things and of course it was another woman. [SMH] And that’s when sh*t went downhill. [LOL!] She and I began to text each other back and forth and had some very funny dialogue. During our text conversation, Mr. Southern Gentleman was trying to save face with her by telling her the mass text was a mistake and he meant to send it only to her. [Yeah right!]
Then right after that, I received another text message from another unfamiliar number, another woman of course, that read:
The bottom line is that this fool sent a mass text to four women at the same damn time AND got caught. [Dating Tip: In most cases, recipients can see that your messages are sent as a group/mass text, so check your settings before you hit the send button. You’re welcome! lol ]
The good thing for me was that I used that opportunity to promote thisdateisover.com with one of the women I was texting [LOL!]. The bad thing for him was that this guy lost 4 women with one text message. [SUCKS TO BE HIM! lol]
To make matters worse, Southern Gentleman had the audacity to text me a few hours later asking “When can I see you?” as if I was going to somehow erase this mass text debacle from my mental rolodex. [The nerve of some people!] My reply: “You’re joking right?” He followed up with a call shortly thereafter to try to plead his case by saying it was a “mistake”, the message was in fact meant for me, and some app on his phone mysteriously sent out the mass message. [HAAAAAAAA!]
This Date Is OVER!
People when you are caught in a lie, just own up to it rather than insulting the other person’s intelligence by giving BS excuses like “oh the app on my phone did it” as if an app will randomly select 4 women that you just so happen to be dating and send all of us the same message.
At the end of the day, I don’t fault Southern Gentleman for dating multiple women because it’s not like we were exclusive or were even on that level; however, I do fault him for stupidity and laziness. That’s just messy! If he was smarter, he would have sent the messages individually [good ole copy and paste my man!] At least make me think that the message was only for me YOU BIG DUMMY! Here I am thinking he thought I was “amazing”. [SMH]
Sincerely,
