So this guy that I knew from an online dating site hit me up a year later out of the blue. We dated for a bit previously, but I didn’t think he was a good fit because he had a Napoleon complex: he was mean to me at times and didn’t know how to talk to me. I stopped communicating with him at that time and told him that I didn’t think we were compatible.
As I said before, he messaged me one year later on a social media site asking to reconnect. I told him it wasn’t a good idea and declined, but he just kept asking. He asked me out a good five times before I accepted. A conversation with a lady in my church stuck in the back of my mind when she said “the one who is right for you might be right underneath your nose.” So, I figured I’d just give it a shot. [I mean dude was super persistent. Maybe he has changed for the better.] Anyway, we agreed to get together at a seafood restaurant by my job after work (about a 30-minute drive for him).
We met at the restaurant, embraced, and were quickly seated. We began to talk and he asked me what I was going to order. I said I was going to get the seafood pot and he said “are you going to eat all of that?” [Ummmm yes, I am. Is there a problem?]
I asked him what he was going to order and he said:
Him: I’m not going to eat anything. I’m just going to get a water.
Me: Why?
Him: Don’t you remember that I’m allergic to seafood?
Me: [I haven’t talked to you in over a year. Why would I remember that?] Why did you agree to come here if you don’t eat seafood?
Him: Because you wanted to come here.
Me: Would you like to go somewhere else?
He then he looked at his phone, got up, and said he had to take a call. During this time, I ordered a drink and began chatting with our waiter. The waiter brought me my drink and came back a couple of times asking if I wanted to order any food. I told him I’d wait for my date to return. I was so busy enjoying my drink and playing on my phone, that I didn’t realize 20 minutes had gone by.
My waiter returned and again I shared that I was waiting for my date to get back before I ordered. The waiter asked where my date was and I told him the guy was outside on the phone. That’s when the waiter pointed out that there was no one outside. Why? Because dude LEFT. [Oh sh**! The B*tch Set me up!]
THIS DATE IS OVER!
Dude was indeed gone without a trace. I messaged the guy since he didn’t even bother to tell me he was leaving.
He made up some excuse as to why he didn’t tell me he was leaving, but I knew he was lying. I told him that I hoped everything works out with his family and to never contact me again. I went to block him on on social media, but he had already unfriended me. [You don’t have time to tell me you’re leaving, but you have time to unfriend me? Smh!]
Sincerely,
Go With Your Gut
What would you do in this situation? Would you have given him a second chance? Do you think he really had a family emergency?
